The Goldmans set about to create a living space that is a part of the environment, not insulated from it. The Cabañas contain many convenient touches but are intended to allow you to enjoy living, even if for just a few days, close to nature.
At Empalme A Las Playas spacious Bamboo Cabañas that sleep four are available. Or, couples can choose a Bamboo Cabaña for two. Outside the Cabañas resemble primitive huts but inside the rooms are clean, spacious, and convenient.

circulates air and provides all the cooling you’ll need. Each bed has a mosquito canopy net just in case you need it. The resort has electricity supplied by the local power authority and in addition has a back-up power generator and also equipped with wireless internet for business and pleasure. .
Breakfast is included in the price of the room. Other meals with Roy and Karen are optional, but not to be missed. Allergies and dietary restrictions can be accommodated, please advise when booking.
There is an honor bar for drinks, beer, sodas, water, and snacks. Guests take whatever they want, record it on the log sheet, and pay at the end of the stay.
Outdoor space includes decks where you can lounge in a rattan chair or swing in a hammock sling chair. Also above the main house is a mirador where one can relax in the full hammocks and read a book or catch a nap in the fresh air. Guests can watch the tranquil beauty of the river . . . see local wildlife such as parrots, toucans, and howler monkeys cavorting nearby . . . view the vastness of the lush jungle canopy.
There are walking trails where you can explore along the river and see exotic local plants, flowers, butterflies, and birds. The area is home to the sloth, and observant guests may catch a glimpse of this rare and shy creature. |

The Empalme is compact and private and just 12 guests can share the space at any one time. If you feel the need to mix it up with other travelers Playa Maderas draws adventure travelers and surfers from around the world and locals are kind and generous with information as well. We have seen amazing connections made through exchanges of information and newly found friendships.
Near the resort is a lovely and very private beach where you can go for a swim and lounge on the beach in the sunshine. Surfing conditions are perfect at certain beaches near here, making this a popular destination for surfers from all around the world. In addition, the natural setting is perfect for bird/nature watching sightseeing and exploring along nature trails.
The country of Nicaragua, once a problem spot, is now a safe and tranquil location where tourists can visit with complete peace of mind. Local residents are happy to see you and guests from other nearby resorts are there for you to get to know. Transportation to and from the airport in Managua and the pueblo of San Juan del Sur is readily available. |
